Embracing your inner creativity.

There are many ways to help an organization spark creative breakthroughs. Developing your inner creative resource is part of the very fabric of creativity. And it’s never too late to start, because creativity is a journey, not a destination.  For most people, the idea of creativity may be associated with artists and fashion designers. Yet this could not be further from the truth. We are all blessed with the ability of creative thinking, it’s just a matter of empowerment and letting it flourish. The world is full of difficult problems to be solved that need creative solutions. Actually framing problems may be the biggest part of the problem. Charles Eames once responded to the question, “What are the boundaries of design?”, by asking, “What are the boundaries of problems?”

We need to think more about connecting the dots … creativity + design = innovation. And learning to think creatively in one discipline often opens the door to understanding creativity in other disciplines. That’s why the approach to creativity in my book, Corporate Creativity, is multi-disciplinary. We want to help people solve small focused problems, and big systems problems. I think everyone would like to tap into their creative resources more effectively and see creativity applied to their daily work and personal lives.
